We have a Kuma Ashwood (the non-catalytic version). With the door off, we feel adequate airflow going through the stove and up the chimney. We will check the chimney for build up when the slush is off the roof. However, this stove consistently burns slower than we had hoped with the draft wide open. It was reconditioned at the Kuma factory last fall. It burns ok, but we never shut the draft down. We burn wide open and the fire does not roar. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it? Thank you.

The two prime suspects are poorly seasoned wood and/or weak draft, not the stove.

You are probably right about the wood, but when problem-solving, it's best to assume nothing. Wood can be very dry on the outside and still damp in the middle.

What is the flue system setup, from stovetop to chimney cap?

How many floors is the house and on what floor is the stove located.
