Very early this year I took delivery of two pallets of Lacrete pellets that I couldn't move inside, so they remained outside for the duration. Over the summer I noticed a bulge in the outside plastic wrap on one of the pallets which wasn't there when they were delivered. Near the bulge was a small stretched perforation (about 1/2" dia.) in the outside wrap, but the pellet bag within didn't appear punctured. I don't know when this perforation may have occurred and could have been during storage at the sellers or during delivery. Where I had them stored was presumably a location where they shouldn't have incurred any damage, but not 100% sure. Yesterday while putting them in the barn, I found out of the two pallets a total of 5 bags had incurred water damage in various locations in the stacks, one of them towards the center top which leads me to think there were other areas in the outside cover that were compromised, but not readily evident. And like other pellet bags, they have the typical pinhole venting in the bags which water can penetrate.

This is the first year I've bought Lacretes and while they may be a good quality pellet, the packaging is extremely poor compared to other brands I've bought in the previous 7 years of buying pellets. The other brands I have bought typically had a sheet of plastic draped over the top of the stack and then wrapped with a stretchy clear film. Over this is placed a large plastic bag followed by another plastic covering which has the manufacturer logo on it. The plastic over the other brands is fairly loose compared to the tight (shrink wrap?) plastic the Lacretes have. Over the 7 years of storing pellets outside the Lacretes are the first to ever have had water damage while stored on the pallets.
Anyone else with a similar experience?
