Anyone have any personal experience with Landmaster UTV's? I'm (not surprisingly) finding conflicting reports online.
I've been watching for smaller "work" UTV's (48-54" wide) for use on the property, no recreational trail riding. Stopped at a dealer about an hour away last weekend when I saw a couple sitting there. One is a Landmaster L4 that fits the bill. 4x4, Kohler 14hp Command Pro, winch, plow, hitch, cab, dump box. It's a fairly basic machine, no heat, not fancy or fast; but should serve my purposes. Brand new 2023 model year for $8500 (absolutely will not haggle anymore, I tried) including the accessories. They said they just want to move it because it's been there so long and the price originally was close to 20k. Next to it was a similar Kawasaki Mule 2025 with no plow, no cab for $9500...
The overall ratings on it seem pretty good (for what it is as a work machine) with cons being "noisy" and weak brakes. Then I found forums with some folks absolutely blasting them (and all off brands...). Complaints about the engine bogging down and running for crap. Then someone chimes in about E85. It's so hard to know if complaints are legitimate or stupid people doing stupid things with equipment (like running E85 in small engines)... Even running 87 octane with the 10% ethanol blend is questionable.
The few similar small used machines that I have found are 6k to well over 10k in varying condition.
Now I know name brand is often the best way to go and if I wasn't a bargain hunter (read "cheap bugger") I'd go Mule, Kubota, small Honda, or something similar; but 15-25k is hard to justify.
Has anyone had a Landmaster with any constructive assessment? There's apparently been some lineup changes recently in 2024.
