Lazy flame after full cleaning on first startup.

I had a full bin of pellets from last season so I thought that had to be it so I replaced them to no avail. So I thought it had to be a leak or an obstruction. Gaskets all seemed to be OK. So I thought I would pull the fresh air intake and see how it ran with indoor air and I found that water was blocking the fresh air intake. I imagine most here were aware of this possible issue but it was new to me. Makes sense with the cold air coming through an uninsulated pipe into a warm house. I do remember reading about that now about 12 years ago. I will insulate it with insulatuing tape but still check it from time to time in the future. Hope this helps someone with a similar problem or this acts as a reminder to insulate.

I got my stoves all set up for the season Wednesday - unblocking the OAKs and exhausts as well as making sure the insides of the stoves were set up (after the spring cleaning). Then I started up my stoves yesterday.

The P43 started up fine, but the P61a had a lazy flame - and it always has a nice crisp flame. I distinctly remembered removing the newspaper from the OAK that comes in thru the wall. But, there are 2 sections to the OAK (for reasons I won't get into here). I took the 2 sections apart - yep, nice and clear thru the wall. Then I looked down at the part that goes to the stove, and found I hadn't cleared that piece. Once I pulled that newspaper out, the flame crisped right up and all is good.

I always assume it is something I have, or haven't done if I have an issue at first start up for the season (or a problem arises directly after a cleaning session).

I use my P43 all year long. It's in a cool basement next to my big TV which I watch at night. I start it up in room mode, then once the igniter is on, switch the igniter off and turn the temp down to min. After and hour or two I shut it off. I have a small fan blowing 24/7next to it to circulate the air in the room (for the dehumidifier in the laundry room). I went all summer with no major cleaning. The major cleaning is coming up. Still don't have my winter supply of pellets yet. I really like the P43, although it's the only one I ever owned.
