Love my Hearthstone Lincoln 6080! However, the rod is stuck and I can't pull it out. This is a known design flaw (if I had known I would got the jotul). Can I use the stove if I can't pull out the rod (which is attached to the sled)??? The tech won't be able to come out for a while and who knows how long it will take to get parts. It is getting very cold out and I use the stove a lot for heat.

Just to verify, you're talking about the knob/ rod that opens and closes the bypass? If it is stuck in, I believe that means that the bypass is closed and if you make a fire all of the exhaust will run through the Cat from the moment it lights off. Is that correct?

If so, it wouldn't be safe to run. It might actually harm the Cat.

Is there someone else nearby that might be mechanically inclined that could take a look at it and maybe get it open? If it's open, you could run it that way, but it won'y be very efficient.

Check your manual to be sure that this doesn't violate your warranty.

This is a new stove and the problem should be a warranty issue. However, you may be able to figure out what is happening. Remove the square cookplate and see if there is an obvious problem. Maybe the cat has swollen and is binding? Take pictures along the way. They may be needed to prove a warranty issue.
