Hi, I’m new to the forum, hoping to buy my first wood stove. I have an open fireplace that, with some modification, should accommodate a rear-vent stove.

I wonder if you could offer suggestions for a stove that would fit this criteria:
-rear vent
-EPA 2020
-not too deep - hearth will have to be modified to extend 16” (or whatever the criteria demands) but I don’t want to eat up too much of my LR
-doesn’t have to be too big. Will not be the sole source of heat, and our house is only 1300 sf anyway
-Outdoor air intake
-would love a glass door. I want to see the fire!

It’s hard to search anything by these sort of parameters, so I’m hoping someone here can help. Thanks!

Does your chimney already have an insulated liner?

What is the lintel height of the fireplace? Have you considered a small insert too?

It’s about 25” I did look at inserts, but I’d really like to have the ability to heat a teapot or a Dutch oven on top of the stove. I can remove some of the stone in front of the fireplace (the big flat area in front...is that called the hearth?) and gain nearly 6”, effectively making my lintel 31”
