Looking for Small ZC Wood Fireplace

I posted a while back looking for some replacement options for a Heatilator wood fireplace. I didn't quite know the right questions to ask. Basically, at this point I would like to remove the degrading fireplace that is in the hearth and replace it with another ZC wood burning fireplace. The inside of the hearth is constructed of 2x4s and then is covered with a brick veneer. I have attached a photo and a drawing of what I have to work with. Does anyone have suggestions for a ZC wood burning fireplace that will fit into these dimensions? Thanks! Bill

I don't have the manuals available right now, but the BIS Tradition comes to mind here.

that size opening would allow you a lot of options that are positive heat gain vs negative heat gain with a ZC open fireplace. 2x4 construction might pose some issues if the current ZC in there is in bad shape. My brother is going through the same problem...looking to move to a wood burning insert but inspection has found the fireplace is in terrible shape due to improper installation.

are you looking for a regular zero clearance or a high efficiency type? one is not air tight and the other is...almost like a zero clearance wood stove. to replace what you have there now with something similar i think a lennox zero clearance is a great choice. have you looked at their line?

Regular vs High Efficiency? Sorry, I don't know the difference and will have to research. Basically, what I want is this: I want to completely remove the unit that is there now. It is degraded and in poor shape. I want to replace it along with the chimney with a wood burning product (no natural or propane gas) that will give me the most heat output for the space available. Thanks for the responses so far. I will take a look at the suggestions. Any more ideas or suggestions on alternative ideas would be appreciated!! Thanks, Bill

It looks like the BIS tradition is a bit too tall for this opening, if I am looking at the specs right.

It looks like the BIS tradition is a bit too tall for this opening, if I am looking at the specs right.

This is just carpentry. The opening should be adjusted to what you want to live with for the next 20 years.
