Lopi 520/96

Hello out there. Hoping all you wise contributors can help enlighten me a little. I have recently purchased a Lopi 520/96 wood stove, and read on the net that it is essentially the same stove as the newer Liberty model with some differences. I need new air tubes for the stove and and a few firebrick, other than that it is great shape. This model only has one control, unlike the Liberty that has 2, including a damper in the ceiling of the stove. My stove has no firebrick in the ceiling and I was wondering if it should have. If so I don't see how they would stay, maybe I need to purchase some supports that could be missing. I have downloaded a manual for the Liberty and it shows firebrick in the ceiling. I also don't know where to purchase anything for this stove, as I can't find a phone no. from the Lopi home web site. The air tubes are still in the stove, but have curved from the heat, may be fine as is. I appoligize for the long post, I just don't know anything about this stove or have a source to purchase anything for it, so just need some info from someone a lot more knowledgeable than myself. Would appreciate any help I can get, thanks. :-S

Look up Travis Industries and call them, they are really nice people, they will send you a manual for free and guide you to the parts you need. I have an older model Olympic and did all of this myself. Good luck and enjoy that stove!

How badly warped are those secondary tubes? You may want to look into replacements. Sounds like the baffle is missing. I had an older Energy King that had firebricks for a baffle, had to replace a few so I just bought some from Menards. You can also get them from a masonry brick yard for a couple bucks. Or maybe that baffle was high temp ceramic board, you can find that stuff on line and cut it to fit.

Thanks for the post. I think you are right about the baffle being missing., whether it be firebricks or something else, it seems that all the Lopi stoves have one of some type. I think it is probably supposed to have firebricks aboev the air tubes, but don't know for sure. There is nothing above the air tubes. I should be able to purchase what I need as you stated. The air tubes are not that bad really, not burned out or anything, I think they will last a few more years. Might replace them anyway, I want to put it back in excellent shape. I called Travis Industries today and all reps were busy, will try again tomorrow, hopefully I can get through and hopefully they can tell me what I will need. This forum is great, a wonderful source for everyone , thanks again.

I own a Lopi Liberty which may have a different setup from your stove. There is a front baffle support and also one in the middle. Both run left to right as you look at the stove. Both are about 24 inches across, about 2 inches wide and I think 3/16 inch thick. They rest on pieces of steel that are welded to the left and right inside of the firebox. They run parallel to and are just above the secondary air tubes and hold the ceiling firebricks in place. They are removable. Last night I was looking at them and noticed that the middle baffle support had burned through! I called the Lopi dealer today and he said this sometimes happens. He is ordering a replacement baffle support which should be easy to install.
