Hi Everyone, need some help figuring out why my stove is giving off less heat than it used to.
Lennox County Canyon ( THE BEAST), 12 years old. Gave off SUPER heat first 5-6 years, now, not so much, Can't figure out why.
1. Only burn very seasoned wood
2. I've replace cracked, broken firebricks
3. Have replaced the blanket and baffle boards.
Nothing has changed in my house. Any advice would be appreciated, and Happy Holidays to all!
Jamie
You had the same issue with your old stove in Dec 2024 and in
Aug 2025
Hi All, I have a large Lennox Canyon ST...20 years strong! But, a very, very knowledgeable chimney sweep came to clean, and he would not "certify" it. Seen its day. So, looking for a replacement. Need a "beast" of a stove. It heats the entire downstairs. The Canyon was a dream , so thinking of a Jotul or Vermont Castings .Need BIG and BAD to accommodate a "great room" with very high ceilings. Would appreciate recommendations. Thanks in advance to all!
A chimney sweep indicated that the old chimney needed to be replaced. Did you replace it? I'm going to guess that you did.
So, New stove. New Chimney. Same problem... The only constant here is the wood. If the wood isn't properly seasoned, the moisture will keep the fire burning cool. I've read back and I know you store your wood in the car port. Have you brought freshly split wood in the house and checked the moisture content on the freshly split side? Split 2 or 3 and see what the average is.
If the meter still says 10, buy another meter. Here's an inexpensive meter that I use and it's under $17-
