Related trick learned from the Woodwright's shop:

Drill a hole in a tree that's just big enough for a quarter. Put the quarter in, wait a few years, cut down the tree, and cut out a block with the quarter in it. The wood will have grown enough so that it seems that it would be impossible to put the quarter in the hole.
