Lowes price increase?

Anyone see a big price jump at Lowes? I haven't bought any lately from there, but they had been I think $4.98 per bag. Online now it is showing the price as $5.58 per bag which is $279 per ton. That is crazy high around her for big box store pellets (southeast PA)! Think I'll stick to Hamer and Turmans for $256/ton. Guess next year I'll be pre-buying 6 or 7 tons. I should be all set for this year thankfully.

Unfortunately yes that is now the price here too. My local store had green supreme a month back and were charging that. Not a chance!! I moved along.

Yep any time I feel the price is too high I do without "don't buy it" sooner or later the price will go down.when gas was up we stayed home not going to give money away.

Our lowes here wanted 5.58 for natures choice crap,no thanks I got all oak pellets at tsc for 5.29 a bag

I really dont undestand pellet pricing this year, oil is at a 4 yr low, gas is down a dollar, shipping is cheaper, there just trying to cash in on last spring's shortage, this will surely backfire and hopefully we'll see the price drop, it really has too by late winter.....DONT BUY OVERPRICED PELLET'S!

Same here. It was 3.98 a few months ago, now it's 5.58. Good thing I have plenty of fuel.

If you got 22 tons of pellets in your warehouse and no ones buying the price will drop quick they take up a lot of space and their heavy.they will unload them under cost to get space for the next season that's how I feel about their price gouging

It's gouging, pure and simple. The contract rate was set well in advance and they know ere is hoarding and a sky is falling attitude and are taking advantage of it. The local Agway will sell you any of their brands for $350 a ton, one or two of those brands are selling for almost $100 less elsewhere in the area. If enough users were disciplined enough to buy small, prices would start tumbling as none of the stores want a lot of pellets around come springtime. To be fair, I wasn't a pellet user last year so I didn't experience what some of you went through but it might be smart to use oil for a while while the price is down, even if it's not at your break even point yet. You might make up the difference if and when pellet prices drop due to excessive inventory. It has happened with other commodities.

Same here. Three big box stores within 15 miles of sac other in southern NH collectively have 400 tons available for sale, with two of the stores saying they are receiving weekly shipments of pellets.

It takes a lot of electricity to make pellets. Electric prices are up not enough NG distribution to power plants.
