I have a LVP flooring. I'm putting a hearth down in the corner of the room and want it to be as small and thin as possible. can I just use steel? do I need cement board? and can I just use the minimum hearth size and be, okay? This isn't a primary heat source and won't be used much but the floor is new and I don't want to ruin it. I'd like to use something like the steel hearth pad from ACE hardware or something similar? basically, I'm wondering how hot it will get under and around my stove without having it set up yet. over 110F? thank you for any/all responses.

Sheet metal is ok for this stove. However, LVP can buckle due to the heat. Most of the heat will be radiated from the front door. It would be a good idea to have it extend a few extra inches in front.

Someone set a plate on a hot stove burner in our house. They were able to pick it up then it shattered. No burns to the hand but the hot pieces scorched the very expensive LVP. Wife hasn’t noticed yet. Glad she’s not a member and reading this. You want as much protection as you can fit and looks decent.

“Blaze King does not recommend adhesive based vinyl flooring in front of appliances due to thermal expansion and warping which could be permanent.”

A quote from the owners manual, as begreen stated in post #2.

Check your owners manual, you might get some guidance there.

Someone in my house was warming up a plate on the stove...you can guess the rest.

This is a real issue. Look at all the manuals, both wood and gas fireplace products. They all warn against the material being within a given distance. One very large gas fireplace mfg requires 7' in front of glass front if LVP is used.
