Mahle develops low cost EV motor and new battery

Mahle (Germany) has introduced an induction based EV motor that has no rare earth metals and no magnets. That reduces the cost considerably while maintaining high efficiency. They also introduced a lithium/carbon battery that is said to be able to take on a full charge in 90 seconds. It will be interesting to see what companies start employing this technology.

As for the battery tech? Yawn. EVERYONE is working on lower Cobalt lithium batteries and higher charging speeds. They made a Co free battery that charges really fast? Great, why are they only scaling it for mopeds?

I don't know if Mahle has the capacity for producing batteries on the scale needed for cars. This could be a way of getting the ROI needed to really scale up while also getting paid beta testing.
