Hey Guys a newbie here and I have a question. I have a 2022 Sunshine Double wide that came with a gas fireplace (it was supposed to be a wood burner….long story) anyway can anyone help me with the names and or models of “HUD” approved wood burning fireplaces that I can get to switch this gas one out? We don’t have natural gas as a utility and at this point my fireplace is useless. I’ve looked all over the place and can’t make heads or tails of it all. I just want a useable fireplace. If this has been asked before , I apologize but I didn’t find the thread in my search.

There are several EPA fireplaces that should work as long as they are installed per HUD requirements. The Pacific Energy FP25 or FP30 should work. What is the sq ft being heated and how open is the floorplan.

I am not sure what the special requirements for HUD would be but my guess is they would require an outside air supply, class A chimney, grounding to the frame, and bolted in place.

We are just under 2300 sq ft …. Our floor plan is pretty open 3 bedrooms down the hall behind the fireplace/living room and the kitchen /dining room/ master on the other end . Everyone is telling us that it has to be HUD standards . Thing is we had an older single wide(1996 Riverchase) that had a stone and brick fireplace. But I don’t know what the specs were because it came with the property when we purchased the land.

PE mentions in their ZC manual's Mobile Home section to be sure to install to HUD guidelines. That's all.

From the HUD manual I see that it requires a support pier under the fireplace and then:
9.3 Fireplace and Wood-Stove Chimneys and Air Inlets.
9.3.1 Fireplaces and wood stoves shall be permitted to re- quire on-site installation of additional section(s) of approved, listed chimney pipe, a spark arrestor, and a rain-cap assembly.
9.3.2 Fireplace and wood-stove chimneys and air inlets shall be installed in accordance with their listings and Figure 9.3.2.
9.3.3 All fireplaces and wood stoves installed shall be listed for use in manufactured housing.
9.3.4 For field installation, approval from the manufacturer and the authority having jurisdiction shall be required to en- sure compliance with the required standards.
