My first two bags of pellets were magic spark hardwood, I watched the stove very closely at different rates.

My mistake was to switch and bought two bags of marth pine pellets from menards. They burn up faster, produce less heat, and clinkers much worse then the magic sparks.

So is magic spark just a better pellet or is softwood vs hardwood?

fixall - I have about 60 bags of the Marth Super Prem pine pellets.. they seem to burn pretty nice for me... but the rest of my stockpile consists of Marth and Indeck Hardwood pellets so maybe any softwood type pellet will appear better..

Marth has always been as you describe or worse.

Magic Spark and Pro Pellets are the same manufacturer in White Pigeon, MI. I am burning the Pro Pellets this year and have found this batch is as good or better than the Sommersets that I burned the past couple of years. Lowest ash that I have ever seen and burn as hot.

I live in the city and have natural gas, I run the pellet stove a few times a week when I want to "bake the house". Pellets may seem equal or similar on high heat setting, but when the fuel setting is at less then 1/2 you really notice a difference..

i have burned a ton and a half of magic spark this year. they are great better the the sommersets last year. sommersets were hot but alot of ash and this are hot and less ask.
