Looking for input on medical monitor system. My mom broke her pelvis and is much less mobile now than in the past. She lives alone and has been very independent.

I did some research on the all the monthly fee services but really looking at some of the systems where she can press a button and calls one of her children or 911 without the monthly fee.

Any experiences?

Something like this maybe? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B4IMPL4/?tag=hearthamazon-20
It is a device that connects to your landline or cell phone that makes calls to pre-determined numbers. A wireless charm, worn by the person at risk, can also be used to trigger the calls.

I don't have experience with this device or anything similar. I just thought given Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. that a system like this should exist. Apparently it does.

Most of my experience on the ambulance was with cats stepping on the unit . . . I cannot tell you how many times we responded to a home to find the owner fine . . . or in some cases not even home -- which is even more fun since you've got to make a decision to try to break in or you start peeking in the windows like a Peeping Tom to see if Nana is lying on the floor somewhere inside.

If the unit calls a family member or friend I would perhaps have a more favorable impression of them . . .
