Feeling the Heat

I have documented this process in another thread, but thought I would create a new one to show the final version.

I had my eyes set on an Ideal Steel, but when push came to shove my wife was not a fan. So, we "settled" on the Progress Hybrid. Wow! What a beautiful stove!

Drove up to Lebanon on Friday, and finished the install on Sunday. Had a fire going Christmas night.

The first non-seasoning burn I did was with 4 medium splits of oak, temps outside in low 30s. It burned for 9 hours with an easy reload, keeping our well insulated 2400 sf house at 73 in the back part of the house easily. The old Lopi Freedom never could have gone that long.

I did end up having to extend the hearth about a foot to accommodate the Progress. And I had to order the stove without the ash pan because the lintel was too low.

I was able to sell both the old Lopi Freedom, and Jotul F400 to pay for the Progress.

Now bring on the cold weather, and let's see what she can do!

Here are some pics:

Lookin' good!

Nice way to start out the New Year!

You will notice an amazing difference with this stove.

A beautiful stove with many good heating years ahead of it!

Did you pay to have that Heath extended or was that DIY? I'm considering doing the exact same thing

That looks great! You will thoroughly enjoy the PH. It is an amazing stove and really works well!

I paid to have it extended. A local mason charged me about $400 to do it. Took about half a day.
