Messersmith auger fed wood chip furnace

Does anybody know anything about these beasts? Do they work?

It seems to me that the design has several flaws, chief being that it cycles off & on, but doesn't have auto ignition.

Also, with green wood, I would think you would have a huge emissions problem.

Messersmith has been making small industrial wood-heating systems for decades and I suspect they have the technology down. Whole tree chips are basically green anyway, so most small chip burners are designed to handle green chips. If it's a gassifier, there shouldn't be a big emissions problem. If you noticed, they're really not promoting units small enough for the average home. As they say, they're aiming their smaller units at things like shops and greenhouses, not 1,500 sq ft. ranches.
