I have been given some 3X4' pieces of 3/4" micore but I wonder what I've really got? The scraps come from a manufacturer of office cubicles.

The stove requires R-1 and the plan is to fit these scraps together tightly with glue (to the top of the plywood) then screw down some 1/2" cement board, and top with decorative cermaic tiles.

On www.micore.com there are 3 listings for micore: micore/ micore160/ micore300

How do micore 300 or micore 160 differ?

Micore 300 is denser, slightly lower R value than R160. At 3/4" both exceed your R value requirement, you should be fine.

I thought the 300 had a higher R value?

So did I, but according to the submittal sheets I looked at this morning 300 is R 1.03/.5" and 160 is R 1.27/.5 in.
