I'm replacing a Hearthstone Homestead. My height to center of rear flue exit can't be higher than 20.5". My local dealer is recommending the Moreso 7110 which seems like a great stove but definitely smaller than I would like. It also seems like the MF Fire Nova would fit and is larger but I'm not as sure about the quality. Any insight in burns times between the two or any other options I'm missing would be appreciated!

Is this a fireplace install?

Yes. Flex limer up chimney. Stove sits on hearth in front of fireplace opening.
Seriously considering an insert. They have good looking ones. I have both stove and an insert. The stove looks better the insert heats better.

The nova had some buyers unhappy with the smoke rollout. (They sell it in an insert too with the bypass handle out front).

The Morso is a good stove but small. Figure reloading every 4 hours. Does it take 16” splits? I forget.

Measure sure you insulate the liner. Most chimneys don’t have clearance to combustibles so insulation is required by code.

If you are fine with heating the room the stove is in and loading frequently I’d chose the Morso.

If you have bigger heating aspirations then keep shopping and look at inserts.

House is 2 stories, 3000 SQ ft so whatever I get will be supplemental though the Homestead could keep the house above 60 degrees during power outages.
The room is about 200 square feet though opens up into 3 other rooms - kinda of an open floor plan.
Just looked at the Regency I2450 insert. Seems like it could fit and has a decent size firebox.

Look at the Osborn and Pacific Energy inserts. I have a Drolet and heats well. It’s not the best looking unit but it was priced well. If you want a catalytic insert look at Blaze king and Kuma. Make a list of inserts and sizes or get real familiar with lots of diff websites and manuals.

If you need an extra 1/2” the firebricks be altered.

Both options are going to be a bit underwhelming as compared to the Homestead, especially the little Morso. Go for at least a 2 cu ft insert that projects out onto the hearth like the Lopi Evergreen, PE Super, Summit, or Alderlea T5, Regency 2450, BK Ashford 25, etc.
