I have seen several posts where users mention taking their stoves with them when they move. I can certainly see how this would work with an insert but is this really an option for freestanding stoves...where you have put hearths down and thimbles through the wall...I can't see a real-estate agent or buyer interested in seeing that without a stove on it?
 
Stoves are like pools. For some people they're great selling points. Some people want them gone with the holes filled.
 
No mods done to the house when we installed my free standing.
It sits on the fireplace hearth and is piped up the brick and mortar chimney.
