Mt Vernon AE Flame Height

OK, I searched the forum and found several posts regarding the flame height adjustment on the MV AE. I couldn't find anything that addresses this question specifically though. Are there any potential issues with too high of a flame? When I burn the Okies, I get a much larger flame height in my stove than when I burned Corinth (I also get more heat, and much less ash, but that's for a different topic ). When burning on medium, the flames at times easily reach to the top of the baffle. I adjust the flame height to -5, and it changes very little. Is this normal for this stove with this pellet? If so, great, if not I probably need to talk to my dealer. I have read posts about adjusting the flame so that it reaches the top of the diamond when on high, but I don't see that this would be possible. Thanks in advance!

I wouldnt let it bother me, but dont take my word on it.

When I burned Oakies I needed to switch to the sunflower seed setting, it gave me a better burn.

I believe you should play around with the settings and see which work out best.

Interesting, I'll try that. I might also swing by the dealer this weekend if I have a chance.

Quadraburner I had this same issue last year with both Lignetics and Okies. I ran the thing on -5 hardwood, softwood, and utility pellets. It didn't seem to make a difference. The dealer said that if it's occasionally up there that its fine (same dealer as you). I'm now burning Maine Wood Pellets and it's not a problem. I've lurked over at iburncorn and it seems that there's some updates for the wall control and stove board that have to do with fuel tables and horizontal venting. If you change the elevation setting it seems to fix the problem but makes the combustion blower noise too loud for me. In theory the dealer is supposed to be able to flash the board, but I don't think they're setup to do it. What type of venting configuration do you have? I'm also curious what they say.
