I put a new igniter in my MT Vernon AE insert about a month ago - it died on me last night. I never had an igniter go this quick before. Has anyone else experienced such a short life on an igniter before ?
I have already had one blow after a week, they usually last me 2-3 years though. Probably just got a bad one in the bunch. If your not burning corn, make sure you get the new lower wattage igniter, it should last longer. Did you ohm it out to make sure it is actually the igniter that is bad, oor maybe the auto clean could have pinched the wire as well if it was not routed properly.
A week ? I did not check the igniter - it was not glowing red so I assumed it was dead. I did check the wiring and everything was properly routed. I am just burning hardwood pellets.
