We turned our stove on for the first time today and get a "Max Temp in Drop Tube" error. The stove is cold and clean. I tried to reset what I think is the correct pop circuit thing (sorry can't remember what they are called atm), but no change in the condition. Any suggestions?

I believe there's a snap disc on the drop tube. How long does it run before you get the error? If the stove is still cold when you get it I would think its the snap disc that's gone bad. That would be your cheapest option right now I would think.
