My 10" firewood solution

10" splits do not stay stacked for long (ask me how I know!) Here is my solution to minimum handling.

Pile a bunch of short logs off the ground for a year.


Cut and split in the spring and place in your woodshed made of old deck boards, scaffolding and an old shed roof with a sheet of plastic under the base. Allow space for air movement between rows.


Enjoy, having only stacked it all once! At least it works for me.

Nice wood sheds...How much can each one hold??? That looks like Ash.

120 cu ft each, so just short of a cord.
The logs are Ash, the splits are Ash, Elm, Hard Maple and a bit of Hemlock and Pine. Whatever the neighbors cut !!

Looks like a decent solution to me. Does all of your wood season well enough just running split from spring to fall?

March, April and May we can get some nice warm days with humidity below 30% which is when the most drying happens. If we get a damp cold fall the wood MC actually climbs a bit. I have considered wrapping the stacks with plastic sheet in fall a la solar kiln but haven't needed to yet.
