I have an old (25 year?) Kodiak insert that has served me well over the last 13 years. I run it nightly Nov-April as my primary heat source for my living room and upstairs bedroom. Our open living room funnels the heat right upstairs. Just replaced the blower last year. It works fine until temp outside gets to colder than 20 degrees at which time I kick on the electric heat. My part of the country rarely gets this cold for long periods of time.
The sweep keeps telling how how super efficient the Nap 1402 is compared to my old one. I get 6-8 hour burn times in the old one.
One noticable difference is that the Kodiak box is 3.3 cu. ft est and the Nap is 2.25. Is this a big deal? Also, the kodiak can handle a 24 inch log, the nap 18. Would the Nap's increased efficiency make up for the smaller box?
Should I just go for it? Truth is.... I'm a frugal as all get out so I have a tough time spending the coin.
Thanks for any advisement.
