Feeling the Heat

My stove is feeding pellets but not firing on. I think it's the ignitor but how would I know for sure?

Can you see the ignitor glow? On mine you can see it.

Also if you need heat, you can always manually light the stove. Just use some hand sanitizer, gel fire starter, fire starting blocks or the like to get it going.

It's not glowing. That's what made me think it was the ignitor. I just wanted to make sure it was a fuse or anything. If I turn it on manually will it shut off after it reaches desired temp by itself?

This is where we need someone with this stove to chime in. Outside my realm of knowledge. You will want to check the ignitor fuse as well though.

What stove do you have? (sadly signitures don't show up on my phone).

Put a bit of pellets in the burnpot, turn the stove on, put some gel (starter gel or hand sanitizer) on the pellets and light it. Let it get going a bit, then shut the door. It should take off from there.

There are many different methods. I don't have an ignitor in mine. My preferred method with 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol. Let me go find a post which I put pictures on how to.

You used a tad too much alcohol. It'll burn off. I did it once, it make a whooshing noise. Haha

I like to use methanol. I buy 55 gallons at a time for the race truck. Squirt a little on the pellets and throw in a match. I'm to impatient to wait for the igniter on my stoves, I like fire NOW.

I'm partial to cheap hand sanitizer. Besides, it makes your hands smell goooood. Second up is .squeeze' aka: Sterno. If you don't use it to ligh a fire, strain it through white bread to light your own fire.......Lastly, everclear makes good firestarter, if, it ever makes it to the pellets................_g

Kills the plague bugs too ............

Using the rubbing alcohol is genius. Do you just squirt some hand sanitizer on the pellets and light it?

Yes, turn on stove, put some sanitizer on the pellets, mix it around, and light it. Close door. It may take a few tries..
