That's the original VC Fireplace Insert. As has been said a whole bunch of times, great looks, but not much on heat.

So its not consider a good stove because it doesn't throw out a lot of heat?

If it burns wood but does not produce a lot of heat, that is usually not what most folks are looking for. Also, parts might be hard (or impossible) to get for this unit.

It was a decent coal burner - with conversion kit!

Thanks for the tip. With all the inserts out there, perhaps I should just engineer/ design and fabricate my own, considering my professional background.
