All,

First, thanks for everyone sharing their knowledge here. I appreciate it.

Second, I have a home with an in-place Majestic SK8 flue (8"). The original fireplace/box is gone and I am planning (or wanting) to buy and install a Napoleon High Country 3000 zero clearance style.

My question is this: I believe the flue is "compatible" but I do not have an anchor plate. It has been suggested I might be able to fudge one up by using a short length of SK8 flue and crimping the inner pipe to push into the collar on the fireplace. And then taking the outer pipe and folding the edges flat and screwing into place (with a fiberglass liner).

Does this make sense? Does anyone have advice or suggestions?

Many thanks,

Hank
