NC-13 VS NC_30 comparisons

How much bigger is the 30? If I went with a 30 and hooked up to my current pipe that is on my 13 would I still have enough clearance from my wall behind the stove. And how much further into the room would it stick out? I like the13 just not getting enough heat out of it...

The firebox is nearly 3x the size on the 30.

Go look at them side by side at a Home Depot.

The clearance to combustibles are wayyyy different on the 13 to the 30.

are you trapping heat in the stove room? or is the 13 simply not making enough heat?

The location of the stove location is more the issue than anything, with the floor plan of the house. I'm maintaining 65* with no secondary heat source so I can't really complain its 18 outside and that's not even factoring in a wind chill

KOOL if it just a distribution thing though a larger stove may not be the answer, remember, moving hot air is a challenge, moving cooler air is less so, if you can put fans low to the floor aimed back to the stove it will pull the heat out of the stove room more efficiently than pushing the hot air out

I thought the 13 had a 1.3 cu/ft firebox. 30 is 3.5 if I remember.

13-NC is 1.8 cubic foot firebox.

I tried to do that, but Home Depot (and Lowes) already have lawn tractors, grills and patio furniture on display. Snowblowers and stoves are gone.

You must have a large amount of footage that you are trying to heat if you get only a 50 degree temp difference from outside to inside, huh? I bought my 13 from home depot and as I remember, it was recommended to heat a certain amount of footage...I think it was about 1200-1500 square feet. BB, does this sound right?

How much are you trying to heat? How drafty are you? I just this fall went from the 13 to the 30 about a month ago. There is quite a difference between the two. Basically the two are roughly back to back the same to the front of the step down on the 30. Then add roughly 1/2 of the original box depth to the front of the 13 to get the lengh of the 30. I heated in my house for 3 1/2 years with the 13. Its a great heater for the size, but the 30 has made life soo much easier. I get longer burns at lower temperatures on the 30, by using the mass of the stove. Plus are you using the blower on the backside of the stove. That makes distrubution a day and night differences on both stoves.

What combustible lies in front of it? I've got hard wood floors, I was always concerned with roll outs from the coals, on the 13, since the box is soo shallow. I'm not soo concerned now, since I can keep the wood deeper in the box and utilize the box's size when loading. Plus I dont coal up nearly on the 30 like I'd coal up on the 13. In these cold days I'd be taking a bucket of coals out every day or day and half. But since I've installed the 30 I've only cleaned ash's out like 3 times (thats almost a month to date so far).

Plus make sure your hearth is built stout enough to hold the weight of the 30, its a monster in that department.

I use the 13 to heat right at 1800sq/ft and it does it easily on the coldest day we had so far it was 74 in my house the fans at the floor putting cooler air in was the key I played around with direction and angle once you get that it's easy to get the heat out. Have u tried cracking a window on opposite side of the house I found that will bring the heat around good to
