Is that a male female elbow like an appliance adapter? I'm hoping for now I can grind down sharp edges on the cut damper my install will have to be done relativly quick and then this summer I will take it out to do some cosmetic work and touch ups on whatever I have to roughly fab to get it functional my nc-30 is going to have to start throwing the heat early. Unless we just suck it up and stick with the current setup until warm weather hits. But I would like to have this beast working for me now. Got a feeling if I wait to install I'm gonna go crazy waiting on next winter to come

Male into the flue collar and female with a band clamp connection for the liner. Pack the female end with furnace cement before putting it on the liner.

I hear ya. Broke my old stove in October and had to get a stove in here and installed fast. No other heat source.

If you use the elbow, get a solid one, not an adjustable, it will fall apart at the swivel seams. BB can confirm this.

With my stihl ms290 in the shop and the hours of reading this has butt in a lot on my cutting time and next years supply is weak so far probably going to have to buy couple loads and get at it I just really hope this thing slides in and I'm just making a bigger deal than need be!

Those elbows readily available at big box stores? Not sure of any near by stove specialty stores here

Nah but lots of places like Hart's Hearth, Chimney Liner Depot and Rockford can get one to ya pretty quick. Do NOT use the black pipe adjustable elbows at the box store or you will be replacing the thing every two years. The exhaust on that stove on startup and reload is brutal. And those things can open up like an egg.

Well if install doesn't go smooth I figure I could use in a pinch for a few days if need be until an online retailer can get one to me. I will have room to work above the stove and cheaper than a propane delivery. I for sure wouldn't use for more than couple days if I had to

I got stuck having to use one of those things in a pinch the first season to get going. When I pulled it the next summer it was trashed.

Use the old stove till it gets there and do it right the first, and last, time. Going up and pulling up the liner and pulling the stove out ain't worth it. Says he who has.

Uh oh you saying don't install the new one yet ? I do think I'm over analyzing again and it will probably drop right in after that a curve down I would love to use the rest of the heating season

You don't think if worse comes to worse I could if I had to use the cheap elbow, just pull out and replace elbow when good one online comes? If I had to use . I am cutting the legs so I have a 5" gap on top of stove so I would have plenty of arm room in there . Would I really need to pull up on the liner from the roof just to swap it? Appreciate the advice guess more to think about

I'm with Bart, pulling an insert to replace stuff really sucks after installing it once already. Just went through a swap out, and it sucked!
We do it nice, but we do it twice is not the motto you want to use in this matter.

For anyone who has one how does the ac-16 blower do as far as distance heat is felt? Current insert you can feel the blower about 5-7 feet away. Important to launch it out there before it goes to the stupid peak ceiling

I agree, use the old stove until you can order a stainless 15* elbow, once you have it, then do the install. Probably can get one in 2-3 days or so...
I wish I had ordered one, it would have saved me a couple hours of screwing around. It did fit without it, but it was a big fat just barely!
Just a lil tip, if that's gonna be your only heat, do a burn-in out in the driveway. If you don't, your fiance will just "love" the house reeking of that new stove smell!

Yeah I'll probably do a small fire outside in the driveway. You really think I should hold up and get that elbow? The rough template actually showed the stove sitting where I want it and it was lined up right next to existing oval pipe on our insert

Remember, it's measure twice, cut once, not, I cut it twice and it's still too short!

I double checked my rough cardboard template think we will be good to go once I cut damper and I'm going to try not to take any firebrick out of her! Can't remember if anyone answered but is roxul ok to be directly stuffed next to bare liner? Going to fill gaps between block plate and liner with some

Roxul should be fine. Is your liner gonna be insulated? There is usually extra insulation, you could use some of that to put right next to the liner.
If you have a diamond blade on a angle grinder you can make a nice lil liner shaped notch in the brick if it would help. Stuff cuts like butter with a diamond blade. Don't hesitate to remove brick as needed to make it work, it's really no big deal as long as you don't take the whole chimney down.
BTW, Diamond blades are relatively cheap if ya don't have one, I think I gave $15 for my 4" diamond blade at ACE hardware.

Yea I have a diamond for my 4 1/2 grinder. Never thought of extra insulation I could probably wrap and make a little collar for where it passes through the cut damper too. Liner will be insulated except for bottom 5 ft. I figure bottom few feet being bare flex will offer more wiggle room if we need it

I'd insulate right to the point where it will be against the top side of your block off plate. Doing a "wrap" through the plate and old FP damper area is a good idea, something you can do after everything is hooked up.

Well only ordered 25 ft of insulation got 30 ft of liner. From top of insert to top of chimney is 25 but garunteed odd 2 ft difference with S curve and terra cotta exposed at top
