I am tiling for a planned NC30 install, and don't see a measurement for the following in the manuals I can find.

How far is it from the back of the stove pipe on the stove to the front of the stove (where the 16 inch min non combustible area would start)

I have an existing Class a chimney, where they ran a double walled section in to where I would 90 down to the stove and need to figure out how far forward of the end of that pipe I need to tile before Carpeting starts (on a slab)

If there is carpeting in front I would go 18" in front of the door. Embers and sparks can and will pop out that far.

I second BG's recommendation and would suggest to even add some more. I have seen embers fly beyond 30" from my insert. Relying on the absolute minimum of 16'' is risking quite a few black holes in the carpet. Plus, if you ever want to install another stove you may find yourself just an inch short and then you would kick yourself for being so skimpy.

Sure, more is better but you need a minimum. Thing is you need to be more specific. We dont know where you or your inspector will measure the 16" from. It should be the face of the stove at the door opening but I've had them measure to the glass too.

23.5 from back of pipe to front edge of stove top
22.25 from back of pipe to face of stove where the 16 should be measured.

I have carpet 16 from the face of my princess with no burn marks, just bark chips.
