For the most part all stats need to be taken with a huge grain of salt.

For instance, the Heritage that the original poster is using is rated at 2.77 grams per hour, but since the poster is using either wet wood or has a setup issue and is getting smoke (and can not get the temps over 400), that rating is not holding true, nor will the EPA ratings hold true on any stove the original poster switches to until the problem is resolved.

So, if pollution and burn efficiency is a priority, I think the first step is to figure out the real problem before wasting money on another stove.
