It's been a crapshoot getting well-seasoned firewood this year. My usual supplier ran out of seasoned hardwood last year and went up in price as well. I found a backup supplier that delivered me two cords in September that was around 30%. Not great, but it did well in a pinch. That wood burned much quicker than I expected given the poor performance of the wood and cold days we've been having here. That supplier also ran out of their dry(er) wood. I managed to line up a third seller from Craigslist that sold me some of the wettest wood I have ever seen (i.e. 35-45% on the meter).
So, I'm just about out of wood currently. I know I'm looking to get 2x-3x the wood this spring/summer so I can start really seasoning the wood correctly, but for this season I'm out of ideas. I've called several people and none of them offer wood that has been cut and split for over a year.
A local energy supplier said they can deliver a pallet of ecobricks for $373/ton. Seems kind of steep to me but I don't know where else to go. I can use some friendly advice at this point.
