my father is looking for an insert to put inplace of his fireplace. He is looking for something with high efficency, glass front preferably two doors, and can be opeerated with the doors open and a screen in place. Can anyone recommend a good manufacturer and model thanks.

There are many good inserts available from Regency, Avalon/Lopi, Quadrafire, Pacific Energy, Jotul, etc. It would help to know more specifics about the house and room size, geographic location, fireplace dimensions, etc. in order to be more specific.
My Regency R90 does all that and about runs me out of the house with all the heat. (But we haven't been any colder than 30 so far). I had my old prefab fireplace removed and the Regency installed in its place. Not a do it yourself project for me.
the house is about 1800 sqft the fireplac is located in the center of th house on an outer wall. The chimney is a wood structure with triple wall pipe. The fireplace that is in there now measures 37" wide by 32" tall.
This sounds like it may be a manufactured, zero clearance fireplace. Do you know the brand? Usually there is a manufacturer's label at the bottom front corner.
Depending on the brand of ZC fireplace, a select list of inserts may be installed. What is the firebox opening size and depth?

PE's will go in zero clearance fireplaces, but you only get one big door with glass and you can't leave it open. On the other hand they will roast you out of that house.
we put in a Pacific Energy summitt insert towards the end of last winter and like it very much. the glass on the door is quite large and heats our 3100 sqft house nicely.
The fire place we havei a pre way model BE41 AP It is a Pre-fab fire place, Zero clearance I guess it is in a studded wall/ chimney. the dimensions on our fire box is 22" in height 29"across the fron and 19.5" across the back in width and a depth 19" the flu is very close to the back. A Buck model 18 will fit it was recommended by a local stove shop, but we kind of wanted something a little more decrotive like a Vermont Castings, but they are too big. Does anyone else know of something that might fit. Thanks
You might be able to squeak in a Hampton 300i in there. It's a beautiful stove. The 200i would definitely fit.

We looked at the the Hampton 1200 and really liked it the dimensions are very close to what we need, but the chimney does not quiet line up even with the offset adapter. Your Chimney is in the rear of the fire place the edge is about a inch of the rear wall. The chimney with the offset adapter is still about 4" inches short. Does anyone no if a longer adapter is available? My other question is do we leave the old ceramic on the walls of the old fireplace?

I removed ceramic tiles from the front of my FP, and since the insert install, and now refinishing the FP front with new ceramic tile.
It's a not to bad project.
I may have not been clear on my post I ment the ceramic tile inside the fireplace. It appears to be ceramic but could be fire brick.
