Need recommendations for wood stove for remote cabin

Hello,

We have a small (28ft by 15ft) hunting cabin in northern Maine. Access is limited to boat or hike. The 50 year old wood stove had sadly died. I'm looking for a variable rate wood stove that will fit full sized logs, but it can't weigh more rhan 200 lbs, and wont cook us out by being too big. My cousin has a baby bear, which looks ideal, but no longer made. Epa complient isnt critical since its used mabe two werk a year. And, was hoping to come in under $900. Anyone have ideas? Is ised my only bet? Thanks

The 200lbs part is the hard part. Look at the Drolet stoves and lower priced, well performing stoves.

My cabin is in the Adirondacks, 29x16. I have a 2cu ft stove in there. You’re going to want it oversized if you’re going up when it’s down in the teens or lower and you want the cabin warmed up in a reasonable amount of time. The downside to oversized is once you reach temperature you’re figuring out how to keep the cabin at a reasonable temp.

Yes, a used Jotul F602 could work. The Spark II is close at $1049 and 244 lbs.
