Let's hope no prediction ever comes true then. Only takes one.
We already have quite a few 2020 compliant stoves on the market that work fine. Yes I am sure there will be some problems along the way but it will be fine.

And when those burn tube stoves came out we got exactly the same predictions from people.
And some of the predictions were correct. Think of the originals like Avalon and Lopi. Their first tube stoves used steel instead of stainless for the burn tubes. These burned out in a few years. <grumble, grumble, tube stoves are no good>. Replacement tubes were offered under warranty and voila, the stove was then loved. In the meantime, designs kept getting refined and more efficient. It's an evolutionary process.

Absolutely there were some problems previously. Some of the early cat stoves were horrible for another example. And as I have said I am sure there will be more missteps along the way. But it will not be the catastrophe many are predicting.

Just a shame the consumer who invests their hard earned money has to be the beta tester.

That is why it is important to research the company you are buying from and the dealer you are using. How have they dealt with problems in the past. Yes it would be great if all of the bugs were worked out before products go to market. But honestly they can do all of the lab testing they want but some problems just won't show up untill products get used. And this goes for just about any product not just woodstoves.
