Hello,

I'm sitting here in my new home, it's only been 3 weeks so far and I just picked up a wood stove this morning. I bought a Morso Classic wood stove.

I have a couple questions for whom ever could answer them.

1. Is it supposed to have fire bricks on the inside?
2. Is the door sealed enough not to let out smoke, or can it have a gasket adapted to it?

Thanks for your time,
-Adam-

Welcome!

Is it a new stove or used?

Looks like an old Morso 2B, but they've taken the historical stove references off of their website (grrr, why morso?). If the stove has not been repainted, it looks in great shape on the outside.

In this stove I would expect interior burn plates and no fire brick. No smoke should come out the door if the flue connected to the stove draws sufficiently.

I believe it is the 2B.

I'd like to know what it was built, any way of figuring that out?

The stove wasn't repainted (as far as I can tell when I blasted the heat exchanger today), and yes it is in very good shape. Just a tad of rust around the door hinges and behind the legs.

The only problem I see is the internal heat baffle (not sure of the correct name) right above where the fire would be, has a 4-5 inch crack in it. I don't think that'll effect the rest of the metal though.

I didn't see any burn plates on the sides of the stove, just above where the fire would be. I can and should have taken more pictures.

Was this a good choice in a woodstove? I like it, but I'll see how much i like it when I have the instal finished

Thanks for your time,
-Adam-

It would be helpful to get in contact with a Morso dealer or maybe Woodmans. The cracked baffle should be replaced. It may be in 2 parts.

I don't know when the stove was made. Is there a UL listing plate on the back of the stove?

I did not see a UL listing plate on the stove.

I was looking at my Dad's stove yesterday afternoon and he has a information plate under the front of his stove with ALL the information. I found that his stove was made in 1979.

Thank you for the website links, I'll check it out.
