I am in the market for a log splitter and have pretty much decided the husky 22 ton is the one im looking for. I was just wondering if anyone has put some hours on one of the new models with the Kohler engine, and what they thought of it.
Thanks for any replies!

I purchased one about a week ago and only have about 6 hours on it, thus far very pleased and no complaints about the engine. Very strong and smooth, have split some large rounds.

Got mine this spring and have a dozen hours or something. Always starts on the first pull. Unless of course I'm an idiot and forget to flip the switch.

love mine, 10 cord with it so far. great on fuel (large tank pisses you off if you are looking for a break only when refueling) starts well, one of the quietest splitters I have used.

I also have one for a few months, have run about 5 cord thru her without a hiccup. I changed the oil after 5 hours, always use stabilizer in the fuel and checked the bolts to see if anything was loose. Nothing but good things to say about the machine. Good luck. Tractor Supply assembled one for me in about an hour. They were sold out of the the pre assembled machines.

Bringing this back up. I bought one when they first started putting the Kohlers on. I have to say I am very pleased with the unit. The Kohler sips fuel and is surprisingly quiet. Starts easy and runs smooth.

Ive been told by more than one person that Kohler engines rank a close 2nd to a Honda. I have a Kohler Command Pro on my garden tractor. They're known to puff some smoke on startup if on a incline but it sure runs good!

I was just on tractor supplies web site and it seems they are selling the huskee 22 ton under the County Line name.
They had it on their home page as huskee but you look under splitters and it is County Line.

I noticed the same thing last night...

I'd be willing to bet that the Courage series is the engine on the splitter. The Command is a commercial grade engine, while the Courage is a consumer grade. Hopefully it's still a decent splitter, as the DHT 22 I just picked up has the Kohler Courage.

BTW, the 22 ton DHT is on sale this weekend at Lowe's for $989.

Was at TSC today and they had both the Country Line and Huskee models there. The CL has the Kohler series 3000 engine while the Huskee had the Kohler Command engine.

My Forest King splitter has a Chinese knock off of a Honda engine. I'm just hoping that if I take good care of it it'll last me for many years. Hopefully, knock on wood!

always use stabilizer in the fuel
Cant stress this point enough, and if you are not going to use for a considerable amount of time drain it and the carb bowl also. That splitter with proper upkeep and good fuel will be enjoyed for several years.

I installed a fuel shutoff on mine to keep the fuel bowl dry. Still, if I weren't going to use it for more than a few months I would run it completely dry. I don't use stabilizer, but do use 100% gas with no ethanol.
