Hello all I had a local company recently install a wood insert and it was burning like crap. I was reading up on chimney liner installs and I have read that it is important to have a good seal around top of insert and to have liner wrapped. Is it supposed to be wrapped and what do you seal around stove with here's some pics the more info I can't get from everyone the more I can go back at them! Even the top cap looks like chit imo

Well I am sure it is not wrapped in the size clay liner you have with that 6" round there would be no room for it. They obviously bent up the bottom of the liner pretty bad so it does not fit into the adapter well anymore as it should. And yes that top plate install is crap. All in all it loos like a piss poor install And probably not code compliant either if it is not insulated which I am pretty sure it is not.
