I had this wood burner fitted less than 2 weeks ago and have been carefully tempering it. I noticed a small chip in the front lip of the casing last night when cleaning the fire. After burning a few maore logs last night I had a look this morning and it has become much worse. It looks like the casing is melting and there a sandy deposit left behind. I am contacting the installer who supplied the fire but this looks like a manufacturing defect. Should I insist on a replacement fire. Ive never owned a wood burner before but have followed the tempering instructions. This is about the 8th burn. Thanks

Welcome to Hearth. I see nothing but a weld and ash deposits needing cleaned out? When cool clean it out, wipe it down with a damp paper towel and take pics of your area of concern. Enjoy the new stove.

Guessing that entire area will become affected as it is inside the loading door and exposed to all that transpires in an actively burning firebox. Having your dealer look at the condition you are concerned with is a fine idea. May as well document your concerns. I'd be more concerned with the apparent shoddy spot weld penetration? Good luck.
