i installed a harman accentra insert. have used 8 different pellet manufacturers and dont know what one to buy in quantity. can someone give me guidance, i live in central mass near worcester
someone told me that harman can burn anything you put into it. again i am new to pellets, always burned hardwood i wood insert. so, my brain says to get harwood pellets but i have decided thats now a myth when choosing pelletsYou have a Harman ...take advantage of the benefits of being able to burn ANYTHING....(translation....low $$$ pellets) Don't we burn pellets to save money??? so start saving....
Its generally accepted that soft wood pellets are better...with a Harman it will be hard to tell with it being a "smart" stove. Since I don't use a "space heater" I don't have direct experience. IMHO , the only difference I see is ash...and since I clean so often , I choose to save money by burning "box" store pellets. Also, If this pellet deal goes 'haywire" a pellet mill will be in my future... but at 200/ton a mill will not be cost affective.someone told me that harman can burn anything you put into it. again i am new to pellets, always burned hardwood i wood insert. so, my brain says to get harwood pellets but i have decided thats now a myth when choosing pellets
Now for every ton you burn @ that price, figure $50 toward the price difference between your Harman and a "lesser" stove. I spent 1 year looking over this site to see what stove would best suit my needs....time well spent. That being said, we are now burning our local Home Depot pellets @ $209.00 pr ton
thanks for the education, will start looking for lowest price and get a ton, today home depot is 219/ton and lowes is 229/ton. do yourself a favor,if any of you have a military card or bring your dd214 discharge to eith hd/lowes and get 10% off EVERYTHING you buy, even pellets! Now for every ton you burn @ that price, figure $50 toward the price difference between your Harman and a "lesser" stove. I usually burn maine choice hardwood pellets very good heat with lot of ash I tried fireside ultra from dh and was very impressed very good heat very LOW ash I have a harman p35iWe're new to pellets, but like the others have said, your Harman will burn anything, and burn it good.
We started ours January 1st, and have tried every different pellet we can find, and the only difference seems to be quantity of ash. That being said, we are now burning our local Home Depot pellets @ $209.00 pr ton.
If u bought it last year your p35i call your dealer about the flame guide extender the didn't come with yours they should be about to order it for u at no charge .. They go for $50 it's sap posed to increase the stove effiecently up 1 to 2 percent just a head up !!In RI with a Harman P35i (I bought it last January). Burned 2 tons of fireside ultra and 1 ton of Green Supreme so far and to be honest I can't tell a difference. The Green Supreme ash is grittier but heat wise the house is warm and I'm burning the same amount of pellets. I've tried a few others just a bag at a time for fun but in the end I don't see much of a difference so I just goto Home Depot and have them deliver pallets of pellets to my garage now ;-)
I burns maines choice higher the ash but very good heat .. Setting number 6 house is 73 with -6I feed my P35i the good stuff. You notice the difference on these cold nights right now. Burning Douglas Firs right now, super hot, clean glass, and next to no ash.
I tried the fsu last week I bought 1bag and was impressed very low ash high heat !! 2 bad I'm sitting in 3 tons of maines choice but I can't complain got them for $200 tonOut of the eight different pellet brands you have tried, did you notice any difference in them from amount of ash .... I also have a Harman, and in central MA.... I wish Lowes in Northboro would get more of Somersets in, but they got one truckload early Dec that went like hot cakes .... But Lowes in Worc has Hamer Hot Ones currently (which are pretty low in ash content for me).... So I would recommend either FSU (from HD) or the Hamer's
Is that coupon still available ?Saving money is the name of the game .. Glad I got my stove this year as it has been a cold winter so far ... I don't mind stacking, so I have picked up ~ 3 tons via 15 bag increments (trying different brands in first season to see what I will commit to next year) also there were 10$ off $50 coupons online for Lowes, which brings price down even more
