Hi everyone. My name is Mike, I'm from western Pennsylvania and I'm new to the forum. I have been reading on here for a while and used some of the information that has been shared so thanks for that. I recently upgraded from an old smoke dragon to an Osburn 2000 insert. Looking forward to this winter. Never thought I would say that. I'll post some before and after pictures when I find the old before ones.

My name is also Mike. Welcome to the forum Mike!
I burn coal so I am an outcast here. But still burn wood occasionally, and pellets in the past.

Not an outcast at all but you do bother people when you start in about how much better coal is than wood or gas or whatever lol.

I gotta keep the coal haters informed!
They might come around someday! Lol
No I guess not an outcast. I've been here since the onset, and they haven't kicked me out yet! Lol

The old one was a fireview 270 I think. Made by a company in Oregon. The new one is the Osburn 2000 insert. I removed the hearth extension this morning to give us some more room for activities.

Thanks. The big thing is that now I can finish the basement and gain some living space. I knew for a while I was going to make this upgrade so I never put a floor down. I wanted to get rid of the extension first.

Looks much better. Is the plan to leave the concrete floor exposed to get the 16" hearth requirement or will it get tiled, slate, ?
