Well I needed a good saw.and I believe I finally got one! Who else has this saw and how do you like it?

I started cutting my own firewood 15 years ago with my 260. Cut for a year or two with that then decided I needed something bigger got the 460 and used it almost exclusively for the most of the years since it is a animal if you keep her sharp. Turned 40 last year and find my self reaching for the 260 more and more lately .I still put twice as many hours on the 46 but I do notice the extra weight more every year.

Nice saw. I almost bought a 460 back in 2011, but I went with the legendary MS440 Magnum. Welcome to the elite no-compromise club.

Nice! My first good saw was a Stihl MS290. I had it for six years and sold it for what I paid for it after a runaway bidding war on ebay. Now I have Husqvarnas, a 390XP ported to 9 HP and a yet to be ported 576XP. I might have to pick up another Stihl sometime. I'm catching a bug that goes around on here.... I can't recall the name but there's a acronym for it. Oh yes, CAD!

Thanks guys, i am excited to put her to use soon! I had been using my craftsman 16" saw, with 18" bar the last year, when i had to borrow a bigger saw on 2 different occasions, from two different buddies, i told myself its time, one of the trees was 35" at the trunk. It was a free downed tree, harvested a lot of wood from it. Anyhow, first year burning wood, looking forward to many more! Next item will be a splitter.

That's how I started. Had a freebie Craftsman saw then bought my 290, then 170. Sold the 290 and got a 391. Bought an 025 last winter, nice little firewood saw to keep in my work truck for job site scrounges. Got a milk crate full of MS 360 parts and had a buddy rebuild it, sold the 391 and got the 460. Bought the splitter between the 290 and 391 at Lowes, 18 months free financing. It's an obsession lol

If you are going to cut that 35" tree you might as well spring for a 36" bar and a skip chain. Why? Because! That's why. 460 should be able to pull that and keep it oiled just fine.

But in my case where I've had the rare find of an old big trunked tree up here where trees grow slow and not real big due to the long cold winters, the deadwood in the trunks were so soft or just gone altogether making it easy to go around the trunk with just a 18 or 20 inch barred saw. It's worth a try.

I looked at a 460 but got a 441 mag instead. Wish I'd gone with the 460, would handle a 25" bar better. Not to worry there's a 660 whispering in my ear that it needs to come home with me. The 660 would be my last saw purchase I'm sure. Yeah right!!

I've been looking at both the 461 and the 660. $100 difference it ain't an easy choice

I've got a 441 with a 20" and 25" bars. I try not to use the 25" bar unless I have too. It wears me out then when that bar on, that mean you have some big stuff to cut. Another good work out. Lol. But I still do it.

I hear that. Last year I has some 54" red oak logs to cut and it was a lot of work for the 441 and a 25" bar. Saw down, saw across, over and over and over. Just seemed like a lot of work for me and the saw. I think the 660 would have gone straight through and made some nice 18" x 54" rounds. I think a 32" bar on the 441 would bog down in that big stuff.

How do split those big blocks down? I flip them on the bark side and cut them down to handle. 54", that a hella chunk of wood

My new 461came with 28" bar, y'all think she can spin that chain alright? I hope so, plan on getting a 25", and a 20" bars as well.

Sure is! Here is one of the smaller rounds. And yes, all hand split.
