Hi all…

I have a small year round wood cottage up in the catskills mountain that I’m going to install a wood stove. The stove is in like new condition with little use that was given to me by a friend. It’s very similiar to the Vogelzang Boxwood stove. I’m going to be making my own hearth pad from info found here in the forum. I wanted to know if this Northern Tool - Dura-Vent DuraPlus Basic Chimney Kit — Vertical Installation ( http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200316635_200316635 ) I’m not sure but is this kit only for fireplaces with acutal chimenies? My question is can I install this kit without a chiminey.

Sorry for the dumb questions, I just want to make sure I install it properly since I dont want to burn my home down.

Any other info will be highly appreaciated.

Bumping for more replies . . . but I will also say I believe you could use this kit along with the appropriate Class A pipe for a safe installation . . . but I'm not an expert on chimneys and flues so hopefully folks who know a lot more than me will chime in to help answer your question.

Thats only the flanges, so you still need to add whatever pipe needed for your stove.

WoW this seem like i replied before.

Alex,

I am installing the duraplus system but the out and up kit. I have found 2 down sides to the duraplus system.

#1 The 3wall duraplus chimney needs 12” hole in the house for the thimble not 10” like the duravent 2wall.

#2 the 3wall uses air as a insulator with 1/2” blanket in side this brings cold air right to thimble cover with no insulation.

If you decide to go duraplus kit Tractor Supply has SS Class A pipe in stock at $99 per 36”.

firestarter... thanks all for replies...

i've been following your thread and learning from your setup a bunch. I'll try to take pics this weekend since I only head up there on the weekends.
