I've got a Woodstock progress hybrid..and a diner table across the room from it..at times it's just too hot. I'm loking for a heat shield that I can place in front during diner. I'd remove it at other times

I can just use sheet metal..but I'm looking for something nicer

Sugestions???

How close is the table to the stove?

That's a healthy margin of safety. Maybe get a freestanding perforated metal screen?

What about a fan blowing across the area between the stove and table?

good idea.. but it's the radiant heat through the front window I want to block. I'll probably try a screen, and if that's not enough, I'll bolt a sheet metal panel to it

Google "shoji screen".

Generally these *are* quite combustible, being a wooden lattice with paper or cloth panels, but fold up to nothing and stow in a corner. Obviously you would keep it outside the minimum clearance to combustibles and put it away when you don't need it.

Get a sheet of copper, have a metal shop roll the edges, fab some feet for it to make it free standing...

I would try finding a sturdy screen and then attach a sheet of metal behind it or see if you can find something like this: (broken link removed)
