I have metal roof with a 2 on 12 pitch. I plan to run my chimney on the exterior wall on the eave side of my single story trailer and there is only about 4-6" from the bottom of the roof deck to the bottom of the trusses. I do have a ventillated cornice along the eave and could use 24GA metal to fabricate an insulation block. I plan to have my attic blown with insulation after I finish my stove pipe install. I did think of a support metal box, but they are all very much too big and rely on cutting the sides of the box, being bent over and then nailed into the roof. As I have my hands full with water proofing a corrugated metal roof, I don't want to add any more layers of the surface of the wave shaped roof surface roof around metal chimney. I know I can effectively close off the chimney area with 24GA pieces of galv sheet metal, and having the ventilated soffit seems as if it would be enough to dissapate the heat from the chimney.
Let me know what you think, Thanks, Joe
