A chimney company came out to my place on Friday and wrote me up an estimate for a stove installation. I asked them about permits, since I know my county requires them, as does my insurance company. The fellow told me that they no longer get them; the home owner must pull them, but "we will work with you." This all seems to suggest to me that had I not said anything that they were not going to bother at all with getting a permit. Wouldn't they be subject to a lawsuit if something went wrong and permits were not pulled?

In most instances you have to be licensed or be the homeowner to pull a permit,,it would be my guess they are not licensed therefore I wouldn't use them.
