New flooring in the family room where our wood stove is located. Wood laminate and ceramic tile.

I added the tile around the existing brick hearth to accomplish two things 1) square corners are a lot easier to do with the laminate and they don't make many trims that would cover the edge of the floor against the curved front of the brick very well and 2) I've now greatly increased my overall "hearth" area in terms of square footage which provides not only greater protection for the current stove but more possibilities for the next stove.

How difficult was it to cut that radius with the tile?
I often come across that same situation when doing floors. Hardwood I just cut to fit the radius laminate I generally end up making a custom trim piece that I bend around the hearth, but they're usually brick and I'm never happy with the gaps between the bricks.
Tile seems like a good option for squaring it up. Thanks for sharing.

The Radius on the tile wasn't too bad I cut at it a little at the time and once I got the general shape used the diamond blade more like a bench grinder than a saw and worked away at it slowly. Each piece was multiple trips between the hearth and the saw until it fit just the way I wanted. Plus that space if filled with grout anyway so doesn't need to be a perfect fit.

Hopefully you left yourself enough room for the metal strips to be screwed down that the "threshold" snaps into, if they're not already in place, hard to tell in the pic.

IF you haven't used them before just be aware that generally, once they snap down into place, they don't come back up easily or without some damage....

I actually put those down first to layout the border for the tiles. Seems silly but I just haven't gotten around to the snapping down part.

beautiful job. i wish i did that in my house. i got the pergo up against the brick hearth and i'll never do that again. the pergo is not putting up with the heat from the stove. it shrinks.

That was one of the other reasons I used the tile to increase the buffer as i know what happens to glue when you apply heat and there is a lot of glue in this flooring.
