Not sure if its perfect but its working fine. -40 the past few days. Add wood every 12 hrs and walk away. Thanks to everyone for the help. A certain few especially (you know who you are). Still some bugs to iron out but at least there's smoke coming out the chimney. Well not much. Time to insulate cant get my 2000sq' shop cooler than 80'. Ill be back.

Can I ask how you're going to insulate the tanks?

(I'm still in the planning stage, but supposed to get a flue next week , if they can deal with the snow. )

You can see the 2x4s around the opening. I'm going to throw a couple studs in there and sheet from the bottom up with 2' strips of
Osb and just pour loose insulation in as i go up. Then maybe put some steel to match the ceiling and pretty it up a bit. Kind of hoping to get some temp sensors in there first.

Loose fiberglass? Cellulose? Something else?
Is that a piece of wood under the tank foot? I can see metal on concrete being a loss of heat.
The steel is a nice look, to me, and has to be practical from a non-burning point of view.
I imagine it'd be a drag to go back in there to put in some sensors after everything is together, so now's the time I guess.

I sprayed mine with closed cell foam and then filled in the framing with fiberglass, works excellent.

Is there an advantage with the foam, vs. a bit larger fiberglass/cellulose insulated container? I mean, there's no air sealing component and if space is not a super consideration?

certainly takes more fiberglass vs foam for same r-value. i wish i had done foam but space was an issue once my tank was in place(no room to spray)
